One Life
by Steve Mecca (©2002)

Every day we carry on, play the part and act the drama
Some run the race, some run the show, some go running home to Mama
It's a cool world to some people, it's a cruel world to some others
If all men are created equal, why do we still hurt our brothers?

Power, Domination, Control, Submission
Fight it, you're caught in the game
Ignite it, a moth to the flame

One life- Is all we have to live
One night- You're ready to forgive
One choice- You must make to decide
One voice- That cannot be denied
One day- You'll find yourself alone
One way- A house is not a home
One time- There was so much as stake
One mind- That would not bend or break

What have we gained, what have we lost
Pleasure or pain, factor the cost.

Life is always full of contrast, black and white and shades of gray
Is there anything that's constant, or is there only constant change?
Friends and lovers you once cherished have disappeared without a trace
When the life you knew has perished, something else must take its place

Illusion, Confusion, Persecution, No Solution
Fight it, you're caught in the game
Ignite it, a moth to the flame

One life- Is all we have to live
One night- You're ready to forgive
One choice- You must make to decide
One voice- That cannot be denied
One day- You'll find yourself alone
One way- A house is not a home
One time- There was so much as stake
One mind- That would not bend or break

What have we gained, what have we lost
Pleasure or pain, factor the cost
