SERIOUS BLACK "DROWNS" in the FLOOD OF '35
The music of local recording artist Serious Black splashed across television screens throughout the Southern Tier of New York when PBS television station WSKG , Binghamton first aired The Flood of '35 on September 27th, 2002-2005. The documentary produced and 'directed by Brian Frey of WSKG chronicled the harrowing event that devastated small towns and cities in the Southern Tier area. Selections from Barbican, the newly released Serious Black CD were used for ambiance for the most sinister portions of the show.
Serious Black is an up and coming goth-industrial electronic music project conceived by Steve Mecca from Elmira, NY. The music ranges from synthesizer-driven dance to the deepest dark ambient you can imagine. It is no wonder that producer Brian Frey and audio post-production specialist Peter Bombar chose tracks like The Gathering Storm and Barbican from the Serious Black release to enhance the impact of the devastation.
The Serious Black debut CD, entitled Barbican is available on line at www.SeriousBlack.com and should also be available at select local retail music outlets soon. As yet, there are no live performances scheduled for Serious Black but the independent label promoting the CD, Dante's Landlord assures patient listeners there will be a flood of Serious Black in 2003.
For those that missed the broadcast, there will be an encore presentation of The Flood of '35 Friday, November 29th at 8pm on WSKG, Binghamton. Have your life preservers and rowboats ready for there will be no stopping The Gathering Storm of Serious Black.
